About Me
I’m Rich, and this is my story of finding true balance. From navigating a hidden struggle with alcohol to embracing deep healing, setting firm boundaries, and rediscovering joy on the track, my path taught me what it truly means to live with mental wealth and perform from a place of wholeness. Here, I share the hard-won lessons from my journey—lessons that transformed my life and can illuminate yours.

For most of my adult life, I lived a paradox. On the outside, I was “achieving”—pushing hard in my career, meeting expectations, navigating the demands of a high-performance world. Internally, I was battling a deep, quiet struggle with alcohol, using it as a coping mechanism, unknowingly building a life that was constantly out of balance. “High performance” meant white-knuckling it through, often at the expense of my true self.
That all changed in July 2020. I made the most profound decision of my life: to quit drinking. It wasn’t just a choice to stop; it was a commitment to finally heal, to confront what I had been running from, and to discover what true balance actually felt like. This was the turning point, the beginning of my journey to find more balance in every sense of the word.
What followed was not a straight line, but a complex, transformative path. It demanded courage I didn’t know I had. I dove headfirst into EMDR therapy, a process that helped me gently, yet powerfully, reprocess past traumas that had contributed to my struggles. It was profound, revealing, and ultimately, liberating.
This healing also required painful, yet necessary, conversations – with loved ones, with myself – unraveling old patterns and rebuilding trust. I learned the hard way about the consequences of neglecting my own well-being. In 2021, I took a mental health leave from my full-time job. This wasn’t a sign of weakness, but a critical act of self-preservation. It was during this time that I truly learned the power of setting boundaries – understanding what happens when I don’t, and how essential they are for protecting my energy, my recovery, and my newfound peace. This period was pivotal in redesigning my life from a place of intentionality, not reaction.
As I began to shed the layers of old pain and self-neglect, something incredible happened: I started to rediscover myself. At one year sober, as a gift to my newly recovered self, I stepped back onto the track. Training for masters track and field in the long jump and triple jump became more than just a sport; it became a living testament to my healing, a celebration of renewed vitality, and a tangible symbol of sustainable high performance. It showed me that true strength isn’t about pushing through self-destruction, but about performing from a place of wholeness, health, and genuine joy.
My journey has taught me that true mental wealth and sustainable high performance don’t come from external achievements alone, but from deep internal healing, conscious choices, and a relentless pursuit of balance. I created Find More Balance—including The Mental Wealth Show podcast and the Find More Balance Network—because I believe you don’t have to navigate your struggles alone.
While my background includes years in HR and experience as a coach, it’s my lived experience that truly fuels this platform. I’ve walked the path, faced the darkness, and found my way to the light.
